A Bit About Us...

A Bit About Us...

Zerocool.tv is our homepage, but this blog allows us to be a bit more wordy.

Here's what we set out to do:

To create emotionally intelligent production environments that champion the work of creatives in any medium.

What are you talking about?!

Let's break it down:

emotionally intelligent production environments

How we produce is just as important as what we produce.

We want to have productions with safe sets, not just physically but emotionally and intellectually. The days can be long, so we want to foster a workplace where people actually enjoy being onset or remotely in-production. I know - it’s crazy.

That also means having empathy - that word gets thrown around a lot but we put it into practice. When the world is spinning out, we’ll give our staff space to vent - we shouldn’t leave ourselves at home when we are working from home, that just doesn’t make sense. Every quarter, we do bottom-up feedback in our check-ins where staff give their EPs notes on what they’re doing well, and what they can do better. It’s a structured place where everyone expects to hear feedback that’s specific, constructive, and kind.

All this adds up to having a culture of "kaizen" - which is the Japanese word for continuous improvement. In production there are a limitless number of variables that we have to account for, and we will make mistakes. How we learn from those mistakes and grow is what makes producing the art form we love.

champion the work

A question we often ask during a production is “what does this film/video/podcast want?” When we personalize the project, we’re able to get in touch with what will make it successful. By removing our egos from the work, we can truly embrace the goals and creative vision of the project.

creatives in any medium

We believe it's critical for the modern producer to be able to create on any medium. The story should guide you where it wants to be told. For us, producing is producing is producing. Our approach is still the same, create the creative environment, manage and reduce the variables, shepherd the project from concept to distribution, then sleep.
